First of all, I can't believe Independence Day is already next week! (Yes, it's Independence Day, not the 4th of July.)
There are all kinds of events happening around the Metroplex this weekend and early next week to celebrate the holiday, and we've compiled the following list of some of the biggest and best.
Saturday, July 1
Viridian Stars and Stripes CelebrationEnjoy live performances from Infinite Journey and the Shane Bell Band as well as onsite concessions provided by Blue Mesa Grill of Arlington. 3rd Annual Billy Bob's Fourth of July PicnicThis year's event at the world's largest honkey tonk features headliners the Eli Young Band as well as Green River Ordinance, LANCO and Charlotte Leigh. Doors open at 6:00pm and tickets start at $30. Click here to purchase your ticket.

Concerts in the Garden: Old-Fashioned Family Fireworks Picnic at Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Join the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in the Botanic Garden as they honor Independence Day with a display of musical patriotism. Bring the whole family, pack a picnic dinner and enjoy the show! The event takes place Sunday-Tuesday beginning at 8:15pm each evening. Click here to purchase tickets.
Monday, July 3
Addison Kaboom Town
This may be one of the most well-known (if not THE most well-known and well-attended) Independence Day event in the Metroplex. The event features an airshow, live entertainment, concessions, games, rides and ends with a fantastic fireworks show. The event is free but admission to Addison Circle Park will be cut off once capacity is reached. But you can see the fireworks display from any of the watching parties taking place at surrounding restaurants and hotels. Southlake Stars and Stripes
Southlake's patriotic festival will include music by the Southlake Community Band, crafts, games and inflatables for the kids. Fireworks will begin sometime after dark (around 9:30pm). Activities will be held at Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park; McPherson Park; and the Rustin Pavilion. The entire event is free and begins at 6:00pm. Light Up ArlingtonVisit Arlington to check out their annual Independence Day celebration which will have three Kids Zones, train rides, food trucks, carnival concessions, and live music on three different stages. Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration
If you want a low-level fireworks show, visit Farmers Branch's Independence Day Celebration. The celebration also features live music, a free KidZone area, concessions and more! Tuesday, July 4
Flower Mound's Independence FestCelebrate the holiday at Flower Mound's annual Independence Fest featuring the two-time GRAMMY nominated country duo, Brothers Osborne. The full day of activities begins with the annual Children's Parade at the Lewisville ISD School Administration Building and will conclude with a fireworks finale at around 9:50pm at Bakersfield Park. Fair Park Fourth
You can celebrate Independence Day with thousands of others at Fair Park in Dallas. The event begins at noon and will include concerts, midway rides, and a fireworks show starting around 9:45pm. July 4th Freedom Festival at Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza
The plaza at the Castle Hills Village Shops is hosting a Freedom Festival beginning at 5:30pm which will feature a DJ, bounce houses, carnival games, a giant water slide, food trucks and a fireworks show beginning at dusk. July Jubilee at Little Elm Park
Enjoy a patriotic festival by the lake which will feature activities for the kids, vendors, live music and a fireworks display at 9:30pm. Admission to the event is free, but you'll have to pay to reserve a parking spot in the park. Or you can take the free shuttle from the Athletic Center. All the fun begins at 5:00pm. Frisco Freedom Fest's Fireworks Extravaganza

Arlington 4th of July Parade
Check out the city of Arlington's oldest, longest running event - their annual 4th of July Parade! The parade is from 9:00am-11:00am and you can click here to see the official route map.
Irving's Independence Day Parade and ReceptionStart the day off at Irving's community parade in the Irving Heritage District and then head to Heritage Park to enjoy food, live music, free children's activities and more. Red, White and Boom Parade and Yankee Doodle Block Party at Historic Downtown McKinney
Combine the charm of Historic Downtown McKinney with Independence Day celebrations and that's a win for us!
