Halloween's smack dab in the middle of the week this year, so we understand trick-or-treating door to door can be a little well, tricky. Or maybe your kids just aren't into the whole door to door thing. That's why we've taken the initiative to put together this list of the 10 places to take your kids trick-or-treating around DFW this year - whether it's a trunk-or-treat event or trick-or-treating on a farm!

#1: Trick or Treat at the Farm

Where: Heritage Farmstead Museum, 1900 W. 15th Street, Plano, TX 75075

When: October 26, 2018; 10am-12pm 

Cost: $7.00 for children ages 1+ (pre-registered); $8.00 child admission on the day of the event; $3.00 general admission for adults

Put on your favorite costume and come Trick or Treat at the Farmstead.  Activities include trick or treating, chicken feeding, tractor rides, a craft, and so much more!  This event is open to ages 1-9. You can register for the event online here.

#2: Boo at the Zoo

Where: Fort Worth Zoo

When: October 26-28, 2018; 10am-5pm

Cost: Free with zoo admission (guests and members receive six Boo at the Zoo treat coupons per admission ticket/Zoo membership); Additional treat coupons can be purchased for $3/six coupons

Get ready for Boo at the Zoo! Enjoy treat stations, carnival games, animal shows and more. This entertaining daytime event is free with Zoo admission and packed with fun for the whole family.

#3: Halloweekend at the Dallas Zoo

Where: Dallas Zoo

When: October 27-28, 2018; 9:00am-4:00pm

Cost:  Free with zoo admission; 6 treat coupons are included with your admission & additional treat coupons can be purchased for $5

NEW THIS YEAR - all Halloween festivities are going to take place during regular Zoo hours! So put your costume on and join in on the family fun the weekend before Halloween which will include trick or treating at over a dozen stations throughout the zoo, a giant spider-themed hay maze, a pumpkin patch, and animal encounters in the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo.

#4: Family Fun Weekend at Dallas Arboretum

Where: Dallas Arboretum

When: October 27-28, 2018; 10:00am-4:00pm

Cost: Included with general admission

Don’t miss the annual Halloween blow-out weekend with trick-or-treating throughout the garden, live music, face painting, a petting zoo and live appearances from Adventures in Neverland characters. Plus, on Sunday, the Dallas Zoo’s Animal Adventures will arrive at 11:15 a.m!

#5: Trick 'r Treat Trains

Where: Grapevine Vintage Railroad, Grapevine

When: October 27-28, 2018; 2:00 or 4:00pm

Cost: $14 per person; Children 12 months and younger are Free

Come join the Grapevine Vintage Railroad Saturday, October 27th or Sunday, October 28th at either 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. for the Trick 'r Treat Train. Practice your Halloween skills while in costume and enjoy our treats. Take note that these are just one-hour train rides and do not go all the way to the Fort Worth Stockyards.

#6: Trick & Treat Halloween Event at Shops at Highland Village

Where: Shops at Highland Village, Highland Village

When: October 27, 2018; 2-5pm

Cost: Free

Come enjoy free treats from retailers across the property for children 12 and under in costume.  This free event also includes tractor hayrides around the property, carnival games, a bounce house obstacle course, and a balloon artist.

#7: Friscovania

Where: Toyota Stadium, Frisco 

When: October 27, 2018; 3:00-8:00pm

Cost: $15 Per Person, Children under 2 are free, Parking is free

Visit the past, present and beyond at this year's Friscovania which will feature a haunted carnival for kids, a food truck concourse, trick or treating, live music, entertainment and a wicked runway show with some of the biggest names in fashion. Proceeds from the event benefit City House.

#8: Trunk or Treat at Trietsch Methodist

Where: Trietsch Methodist Church, 6101 Morriss Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028

When: October 28, 2018; 5:00-6:00pm

Cost: Free

Join Trietsch for their Trunk or Treat which will feature bounce houses, an ice cream truck, and (of course) trunk or treating. Be sure to contact [email protected] if you want to host your own trunk for the kiddos to visit!

#9: Treat Street

Where: Fort Worth Stockyards

When: October 31, 2018; 5:00-7:00pm

Cost: Free

Dress your family in their Halloween best and head on down to the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards for candy galore on Halloween night! Join Stockyards Station from 5-7pm for costume contests, games, hayrides and trick or treating at participating Stockyards Station shops.

#10: Lake Cities Trunk or Treat

Where: Lake Dallas Elementary, Lake Dallas

When: October 31, 2018; 4:30-7:00pm

Cost: Free

This event is a staple in the Lake Cities area and offers a fun, safe environment for kids to trick-or-treat in the night of Halloween. This year they're moving the event to Lake Dallas Elementary School where there will be games, hayrides, and fun for the whole family.

#11: Downtown Midlothian Trick or Treat

Where: Heritage Park, 234 N 8th St, Midlothian, TX 76065

When: October 31, 2018; 4:00-6:00pm

Cost: Free

Come visit our new Jay Marks Real Estate South location during Downtown Midlothian's Trick or Treat event. And after you've visited all the downtown businesses, be sure to check out the Hocus Pocus Spooky Hall inside Midlothian City Hall.

#12:  Scare on the Square

Where: Historic Downton McKinney

When: October 31, 2018; 4:00-7:00pm

Cost: Free

The shops in downtown McKinney and McKinney Main Street invite you to come out on Halloween from 4-7 p.m. to enjoy the sights of hundreds of ghosts and goblins young and old in Historic Downtown McKinney. This year you can participate in their costume contest, pumpkin races and live music.
