2019 DFW Independence Day Celebration Guide
There are all kinds of events happening around the Metroplex this weekend and next week leading up to and on July 4th. Here are some of our favorites!
Saturday, June 29
Allen's community celebration always takes place the last Saturday in June, allowing the event to be a standout among other area cities' celebrations. Beginning at 4:00pm on Saturday, the 29th you can enjoy live music (including music from two former contestants from The Voice), crowd games, kid zones, a car show, a Ninja Challenge, NFL combine drills, food, and (of course) the epic Fireworks Finale at 10:05pm.
Historic Downtown Midlothian is the perfect place to give you that small-town Americana feel for Independence Day. Join them on Saturday, June 29th from 8:00am-noon where there will be food and craft vendors as well as fun activities for the whole family. And be sure to grab a spot for the parade which starts at 10:00!
Sunday, June 30
From 3pm to dusk on Sunday, June 30th join Viridian in Arlington for their annual salute to Independence Day where you can enjoy music, bounce houses, food trucks, a pop-up market, and a silent auction benefiting Nehemiah Builds. And you'll of course want to stick around until the end of the vent for the fireworks show over Lake Viridian.
Register HERE to get a free event ticket which can be redeemed at the event for a Viridian freebie.
Wednesday, July 3
This may be one of the most well-known (if not THE most well-known and well-attended) Independence Day event in the Metroplex. It's even been named as one of the top fireworks shows in the nation! Kaboom Town features a carnival, an air show, local food vendors, live music, and the fireworks show ending the night's festivities at 9:30pm. Admission is free but access to Addison Circle Park will be cut off once capacity is reached. We actually recommend purchasing an Addison hotel package for guaranteed admission and the best views of the fireworks show.
We love the Concerts in the Garden series from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and are big fans of their Old-Fashioned Family Fireworks Picnic held on Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4 this year. The FWSO will honor Independence Day with a brilliant display of musical patriotism. So, pack a picnic and bring the whole family to enjoy music and fireworks!
As part of the Sounds of Lewisville Summer Concert Series, the City of Lewisville is holding a special multi-act concert event and fireworks show on July 3rd from 6:00-10:00pm. As the live music is going on the main stage, you can also enjoy the carnival attractions, food vendors, face painting, and more. Bring blankets and chairs to view the fireworks show launched from the roof of the MCL Grand around 9:30pm!
Mansfield's Independence Day celebration focuses on recreation, rockets and rock 'n roll. Can you think of anything better than that? It's held at Big League Dreams Sports Park and features bounce houses, games, live music from the Bamboo Boat Band, food and their legendary fireworks show around 9:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm and all parking is offsite at Vernon Newsom Stadium with free charter shuttles running continuously all night.
The food alone at this year's Independence Day celebration in Southlake is reason enough to go. They'll have everything from Fletcher's Corn Dogs to Steel City Pops to gourmet food truck, BellaTrino. There are events and activities being held at three separate locations. Activities include patriotic ceremonies, live swing band music, balloon artists, an inflatable slide, a Toddler Zone, and midway games. The event starts at 6:00pm with the fireworks show taking place around 9:30.
Visit Downtown Arlington to check out their annual Independence Day celebration which will have three Kids Zones, train rides, food trucks, carnival concessions, and live music on multiple stages. The event begins at 6:00pm and the fireworks display which is set to music from 95.9 The Ranch will begin at approximately 9:45pm.
Farmers Branch provides one of the few, low-level fireworks shows in North Texas. The celebration also features live music from a high-energy dance band, a free KidZone area, concessions and more! Gates open at 6:30pm at the Farmers Branch Historical Park and blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged!
Thursday, July 4
Celebrate the holiday at Flower Mound's annual Independence Fest with Bret Michaels' Unbroken World Tour as the headline act this year. The full day of activities begins with the annual Children's Parade at the Lewisville ISD School Administration Building and concludes with a fireworks finale at around 9:50pm at Bakersfield Park. And there's a whole lot of fun in between including performances from Le Freak and Breaking Southwest, as well as a car show and lots of delicious food.
Join Castle Hills for their 21st annual July 4th Freedom Festival at the Village Shops & Plaza. The fun-filled community event starts at 5:30pm and will have a DJ, live music, food trucks, a giant inflatable obstacles course, and a stunning fireworks display beginning at dusk.
Enjoy a full day of fun at Little Elm Park which will be capped off by an amazing fireworks display over the lake at 9:30pm. Play on the beach, in the water, and enjoy the live music happening from 5-9pm. You can also purchase an overnight camping permit in person at the Parks Admin office.
Talk about a day of fun! Their Party in the Plaza begins at 4:00pm and features a wide array of fun activities for the family. There will also be a patriotic ceremony including a military flyover, a Children's Expo, a Hometown Hero Exhibit, their popular Taste of Frisco featuring Frisco restaurants, and local entertainers on the community stage. But the real star of the show is their fireworks finale which is one of the biggest in all of North Texas and will begin following the conclusion of the FC Dallas match at Toyota Stadium.
And if you like to run, you might also want to check out the Hotter 'n Firecrackers Glow 5K Run taking place in Frisco Square the evening of July 3rd.
Check out the city of Arlington's oldest, longest running event - their annual 4th of July Parade! This year's parade themed "Happy Birthday USA" will be broadcast live on the Arlington ISD's AISD-TV station and will also be streamed live on their website. But we obviously recommend experiencing it in person if you can!
The City of Irving celebrates Independence Day all day long with their two-part celebration including the morning parade and reception from 9:00am-noon and the evening festivities at the Levy Event Plaza starting at 6:00pm. At the evening's events, enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Carolyn where you can enjoy music, fun, and fireworks.
Combine the charm of Historic Downtown McKinney with Independence Day celebrations and that's a win for us! The event will include a parade, classic car show, live entertainment and a fireworks show at Craig Ranch. The day full of events kicks off with the parade at 10:00am and the later events at Craig Ranch will begin at 5:30pm with the fireworks show starting sometime around 9:45pm.
Enjoy the Midway this Independence Day at Fair Park in Dallas where there will also be patriotic music, concessions, water inflatables, games, arts and crafts and more. Then the whole evening will come to an epic end with a spectacular fireworks show at approximately 9:30pm.
Have a blast along the Trinity River at the Panther Island Pavilion this year where you can enjoy horseback riding, tubing, bounce houses, a zip line, water slides and more. Sounds like fun to us! Gates open at 2:00pm, at 8:00pm there will be an F-16 flyover, and at 10:00pm the largest fireworks show in North Texas will take place.
