Jay Around Town: DFW Farmers Markets
Does anyone else love the feeling of walking around a farmers market on a beautiful Texas day? Soaking in all the smells and perusing all of the various vendor stands? Well then you are in the right place!
Here are some of the best farmers markets to check out here in Dallas-Fort Worth. Even if you don't live nearby these markets, they're worth the commute!
Denton Community Market
When: Saturdays, 9am-1pm (Apr-Nov)
Where: 317 W. Mulberry Street, Denton
About: Denton Community Market is a producer-only farmers market and art market in downtown Denton, featuring live music, kids activities, local farms, local artists, food trucks, food vendors and more!
Historic McKinney Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 8am-12pm (Apr 21-Nov 17)
Where: 101 E. Hunt Street, McKinney
About: The McKinney Farmers Market is reminiscent of the bygone market days held in the old Jockey lot in downtown McKinney. You'll find local and organic meat, dairy, honey and produce vendors as well as sauces, canned goods, pasta, baked goods, wine and flowers! There's also live music, face painting and pony rides for the kids!
Coppell Farmers Market
When: Twice Monthly Saturdays, 8am-12pm
Where: 768 W. Main Street, Coppell
About: Whatever produce you purchase at the Coppell Farmers Market is sure to be fresh because they only allow produce vendors located within a 150-mile radius of Coppell. In addition to produce, you'll find candles, plants, baked goods, pecans, empanadas, pastas and sauces, coffee, popsicles and more! The Coppell Farmers Market is also well-known for its playground and water feature for the kids.
Cowtown Farmers Market
When: Saturday, 8am-12pm
Where: 3821 Southwest Blvd, Fort Worth
About: The Cowtown Farmers Market is open year-round and features vendors selling everything from goat milk lotion to locally roasted coffee to fresh produce. They are proud to promote Texas agriculture as part of Go Texan and are also part of the North Texas Farmers Market Association.
Dallas Farmers Market
When: The Shed OPen Fridays 10am-3pm, Saturdays 9am-5pm, Sundays 10am-5pm
Where: 1010 S. Pearl Expy, Dallas
About: Probably the most well-known of all the farmers markets in DFW is the Dallas Farmers Market held at The Shed. The Shed is an open air pavilion where you can shop from vendors that grow, raise, make and produce your food. You can also find a handful of arts and crafts vendors throughout the year.
Farmers Market of Grapevine
When: Fridays and Saturdays, 8am-4pm (Apr-Oct)
Where: 325 South Main Street, Grapevine
About: Grapevine's Outdoor Market can be found in the heart of downtown Grapevine. You'll find lots of incredible produce as well as some other fantastic local vendors selling everything from jewelry to soaps to art. Grapevine also has an indoor market that's open year-round located just up the street at 520 South Main Street #203.
Four Seasons Markets
When: Varies by Location
Where: Richardson, Carrollton, Flower Mound, Dallas, Irving, Highland Village, Colleyville, Watauga
About: Four Seasons Markets opened their first market in 2009 at the Firewheel Town Center in Garland. Since then, they have organized over 40 markets in several cities including the ones now operating listed above. Recently they've featured vendors selling items like paninis, seafood, candles, baked goods and the Cousins Maine Lobster Truck!
COMING SOON: Frisco Fresh Market
When: Thursdays & Fridays, 11am-8pm; Saturdays & Sundays, 8am-8pm (Opening Summer 2018)
Where: 9215 John W. Elliott, Frisco
About: Frisco Fresh Market will be the next evolution of the classic farmers market. The market will consist of 70,000 square feet of rentable indoor and outdoor space and aims to promote the best specialty foods and freshest products from farmers, artisans, crafters, merchants and restaurants. There will also be a cooking demo kitchen, a band shell for live music and a splash park for the kids on property.
