Best Ice Cream Shops in DFW
July 19, 2020 is National Ice Cream Day! What better way to celebrate than with... well, ice cream?!
These ice cream shops are open and ready to serve you some ice cream this National Ice Cream Day!
Melt Ice Cream
1201 Magnolia Ave #115, Fort Worth TX 76104
Founded by Kari Crowe-Seher in 2014, Melt's goal is to serve happy ice cream to the people of Fort Worth! They're located in one of our favorite places in Fort Worth - Magnolia Avenue - and are right now offering different ways to acquire their ice cream including in-store pick-up, curbside pick-up, delivery, and by partnering with local markets, Meyer & Sage (Fort Worth) and Fox Trot (Dallas).
Melt Ice Cream is constantly switching out flavors on their menu, but some of their Forever Flavors include Cookie Crack, Salt Lick, Cup of Texas, and Strawberry.
Cow Tipping Creamery
3685 The Star Blvd, Frisco TX 75034 || 1309 S Broadway St, Carrollton TX 75006
Cow Tipping Creamery now has four locations - 3 here in DFW and 1 in Austin! They started out as an ice cream truck in Austin, differentiating themselves from all the others with their unique soft serve creations. Their philosophy is everyone has an emotional attachment to soft serve ice cream, so they're serving that nostalgia up with a twist! Their signature items are their Stackers with flavor options like Reese's Witha'spoon, Nola, and Southern Charm. Or you can make your own ice cream creation in a cup or cone, or order one of their delicious shakes.
Howdy Homemade
4333 Lovers Lane, Dallas TX 75225
Howdy Homemade is truly a special spot. It was founded on the idea that the restaurant is about people first, then the food. They work with numerous special needs organizations to hire, train, and employ people with Down syndrome and autism. Their signature item is without a doubt their Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip ice cream, but you can find other delicious flavor options like Cinnamon Swirl, Ninja Turtle, Orange Dreamsicle, and Birthday Cake.
Sweet Daze Dessert Bar
581 W Campbell Rd #127, Richardson TX 75080
Sweet Daze has quickly become a local favorite because of their beautiful and unique dessert creations. They have soft serve, scoopable ice cream, gourmet donuts, cereal pops and cake slices. And in addition to tasting great, they are incredibly Instagram-worthy! Currently they're open for takeout and are also accepting custom catering orders.
Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Soda Fountain
117 W Hickory St, Denton TX 76201
It's everything the name suggests - when you walk into Beth Marie's (no matter which location you visit), you'll feel like you're walking into a soda shop from the 1950's. We love that taste of nostalgia and we know many of you do too! We're big fans of the location on Denton Square, but you really can't go wrong no matter which one you visit. Their premium quality ice cream is made with a machine built in 1927 - we weren't kidding about the nostalgia! And they're always introducing new flavors while keeping the old favorites around. If you can find it, we love their Keylime Pie and their French Toast is pretty darn amazing too.
Pokey O's
Multiple Locations
When it comes to ice cream sandwiches, Pokey O's and their famous ice cream sandwiches made with their fresh baked cookies and Blue Bell ice cream take the... ice cream. They started in 2006 and have grown from a single location in Dallas to a fleet of food trucks and several store locations around the Metroplex. No matter which combination of cookies and ice cream you choose, you really can't go wrong.
Cauldron Ice Cream
3001 Knox St #103, Dallas TX 75205
This Orange County California transplant has made a huge splash since they opened their first Dallas location. All of their ice cream is homemade and all natural. And they rotate in a few new flavors every couple of months so there's always something new to try! But what they're most famous for are their gorgeous ice cream flower creations and their Puffle Cones, which were inspired by the popular Hong Kong street snack! Some of our favorite flavors on their Summer menu are S'mores, Pineapple Express, and Sea Salted Caramel Crunch.
Botolino Gelato Artigianale
2116 Greenville Ave, Dallas TX 75206 || 5959 Royal Lane Ste 622, Dallas TX 75230
Maybe you're more of a gelato fan. That's fine too! A Dallas favorite is Botolino Gelato created by Carlo Gattini whose grandmother served gelato in her own shop in Italy. His self-proclaimed "Italo Texano" style of gelato fuses techniques and flavors from his Italian heritage with influences from his life here in Texas. Flavors you'll find include a Red Guava Sorbetto, Mascarpone and Figs, Gianduia (made with milk, cream, Valrhona chocolate and hazelnuts from Piedmont, Italy) and Peanut & Jelly Sandwich.
Epic Gelato
2400 Lakeside Parkway Ste 100, Flower Mound TX 75022
Speaking of authentic gelato, you also need to check out Epic Gelato located in the Lakeside DFW development of Flower Mound. Owner Richard has trained with some of the best to make sure his gelato is prepared as authentically as possible. At Epic Gelato, you can find dairy-free options, flavors with alcohol, and cream-based gelatos. And while you're there, we'd also recommend you order some of their craft coffee. It's hard to beat!
