Looking at Christmas lights has always been a family tradition of ours. One year we even rented a limousine to make it extra special and drove around DFW with our neighbors! Because we think many of you have the same tradition, here is a list of the best holiday lights in Dallas-Fort Worth - both drive-thru displays and immersive experiences. And this doesn't even include all of the amazing neighborhoods you should check out! Maybe we'll save that for another post...


Drive Thru Displays

Prairie Lights

When: Through Saturday, December 31 2022

Where: Lynn Creek Park, Grand Prairie

Cost: $50 per car General Admission; $149 per car Fast Pass 

Prairie Lights is one of the most well-known drive-thru light experiences in DFW. Prepare to be dazzled with 4 million lights set along 2 miles of path including hundreds of ALL-NEW displays. The 2022 Holiday Village located halfway through is back better than ever with carnival rides, concessions, photos with Santa, the magical walk-thru forest, and the return of holiday shopping! Then you'll get to end your experience with the infamous light tunnel which is the perfect finale.

Gift of Lights

When: Through Sunday, January 1 2023

Where: Texas Motor Speedway

Cost: $35 per car

Drive through millions of sparkling lights at Texas Motor Speedway to get in the festive spirit. It takes about 45 minutes to drive through the whole experience. They do recommend you come Sunday-Wednesday to avoid weekend traffic. But if you can't, get there early so you don't have to wait in line as long!

Immersive Experiences

Dallas Zoo Lights

When: Through Sunday, January 1 2023 

Where: Dallas Zoo

Cost: $18/adult on non-premium nights; $21/adult on premium nights; Additional pricing info on their website

Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant are back as a walk-thru event this year! Walk through more than a million lights across most of the Zoo, including photo ops, 3D lighted sculptures, and a programmed light show at the Amphitheater. You can also visit Santa's Workshop to see Santa himself, enjoy nightly musical performances, and enjoy after-hours rides on the carousel and mini-train. 

Dallas Zoo Lights are open most nights through December and tickets can be purchased online.

Holiday at the Arboretum

When: Through Saturday, December 31 2022

Where: Dallas Arboretum

Cost: FREE with Arboretum Admission

Holiday at the Arboretum returns with a garden transformed with over 1 million lights for the magic of the season including the return of the beloved Christmas Village, the 12 Days of Christmas and the Dazzling Musical Tree!

Radiance! | Frozen in Frisco

When: Through Saturday, December 31 2022

Where: Frisco, TX

Cost: Packages from $34.99 per person

If you'd like to visit the largest ice and lights spectacular in Texas, then you have to make your way to Frisco to enjoy Radiance! & Frozen in Frisco. In the Radiance! portion you can stroll through 3 million lights with displays perfect for capturing photo memories. The Frozen in Frisco portion is where all the real fun is in our opinion. There you can enjoy a winter carnival with ice tubing hills, ice skating, snowball throwing, and snowman building with REAL snow.

Lights on the Lake

When: Through Tuesday, December 27 2022

Where: Little Elm, TX

Cost: $26/adult & $16/child online; $30/adult & $20/child at the door

Lights on the Lake presented by AUI Partners is a 24-night event full of festive, holiday fun this year. Along with an incredible light show, Lights on The Lake offers photos with Santa, a hot air balloon glow, a Ferris wheel, a carousel, and an ice skating rink. There will also be live music, dancing performances, and every weekend offers a new theme including: Frozen featuring Anna and Elsa, The Grinch, and Elf on the Shelf.

Merry & Light

When: Through Sunday, January 1 2023

Where: Gaylord Texan, Grapevine

Cost: $12-$18 per person

You've probably heard of The Gaylord's ICE! exhibit, but they also have a walk-thru light experience offering larger-than-life decor, immersive light elements, and dozens of photo ops showcasing more than 2 million holiday lights.

Christmas in the Square

When: Through Tuesday, January 3 2023

Where: Frisco Square

Cost: FREE

There's a lot of experience at Frisco's Christmas in the Square this year including ice skating, horse carriage rides, visits with Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, and visits with Santa himself. If you'd like a bit of free holiday entertainment, you can check out the Square's nightly choreographed light show from 6:00-10:00pm. It was created by Frisco’s own Jeff Trykoski (Illumimax, LLC) and it features over 180,000 lights, 200 dancing snowflakes, 10 miles of wiring, and 8 miles of extension cords.


Vitruvian Lights

When: Through Sunday, January 1 2023

Where: Vitruvian Park, Addison

Cost: FREE

Addison is celebrating 10 years of Vitruvian Lights this year. Each year they transform Vitruvian Park into a magical wonderland with the trees all lit from 5:00-11:00pm daily. It's a truly magical experience to walk through!
