Checking out holiday light displays is the perfect social-distanced activity to participate in this holiday season. Here are some of the best you can find in DFW this year!
Drive Thru Displays
Candy Cane Lane
Where: American Airlines Center, Silver Parking Garage
When: Through December 26, 2020
Visit this multi-level holiday display where each level includes a vast array of holiday lights, classic holiday lantern characters, and plenty of surprises along the way! You can also upgrade your experience to include a social-distanced photo with Santa.
Dallas Zoo Lights
Where: Dallas Zoo
When: Through January 3, 2021
The Dallas Zoo has reimagined their annual lights display this year so that it's a drive-thru experience the whole family can enjoy. Cruise through their holiday light safari which will take you around familiar parts of the zoo covered in one million lights, elaborate displays, animal lanterns, an ice palace and more!
Radiance - A Holiday Light Spectacular
Where: Frisco | Decatur | Weatherford
When: Through January 3, 2021
This year there's not one but THREE Radiance Holiday Light Spectaculars in DFW this year! Get the whole family in the car to enjoy the two million lights animated to some of your favorite classic holiday songs. You can also purchase a VIP package that grants you access to the VIP entrance, a cup of hot chocolate for everyone in your car, and magic light glasses for the kids.
Magic of Lights
Where: Little Elm Park, Little Elm
When: Through January 2, 2021
Magic of Lights showcases some of your favorite holiday scenes and characters using the latest LED technology and digital animations. They do recommend you consider visiting on a weekday as opposed to a weekend or holiday as wait times can get long!
Prairie Lights
Where: Lynn Creek Park, Grand Prairie
When: Through December 31, 2020
Prairie Lights is probably one of the most well-known drive-thru light experiences in DFW and it's back this year! Because of COVID, they have chosen to close the Holiday Village this year, but they've also reduced the cost of admission because of that! From you car, you'll travel the 2-mile path filled with 4 million lights, hundreds of new displays, and a new and improved light tunnel at the end of the drive!
Gift of Lights
Where: Texas Motor Speedway
When: Through January 3, 2021
Drive through millions of sparkling lights at Texas Motor Speedway this year. It takes about 45 minutes-an hour to drive through the whole experience and you can even order food from the food truck on select Friday and Saturday evenings. They recommend you purchase your tickets online before you come, but they are valid for any date and any time.
Immersive Experiences
Luminova
Where: Globe Life Field, Arlington
When: Through January 3, 2021
Walk around the 270,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor entertainment at Globe Life Field this year where you'll find things like holiday landscapes, a 65-foot tree, an outdoor ice pond, and Santa in his magical light globe where you can get a socially-distanced photo with him. There's also a trackless train that goes around the stadium you can ride!
I Love Christmas Movies
Where: Gaylord Texan, Grapevine
When: Through January 3, 2021
In lieu of their traditional ICE! Exhibit, the Gaylord Texan has a new immersive experience for you this year where you can walk through some of your favorite Christmas movies. The exhibit includes more than 13 scenes from movies like Elf, The Polar Express, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Historic Grapevine Christmas Spectacular
Where: Downtown Grapevine and Town Square Gazebo (325 S. Main St.)
When: Through January 10, 2021
This year, Historic Grapevine is going bigger than ever before! There will be more lights and more displays covering more of Main Street, including its new hotel! In addition to the lights and displays, there will also be daily performers, photo ops, a massive City Hall Light Show Spectacular, and an animated Christmas tree at the Town Square Gazebo. Plus, we hear it often snows down there on Main Street!
Christmas in the Square
Where: Frisco Square, 8830 Coleman Blvd, Frisco TX 75034
When: Through January 4, 2021
Frisco Square is home to the largest choreographed holiday lights and music show in North Texas. You can listen to the music through the radio in your car or while you're walking around taking in everything else Frisco Square has to offer this time of year like the ice skating rink, Christmas Tree lot, horse carriages and visits with Santa.
Holiday at the Arboretum
Where: Dallas Arboretum
When: Through December 31, 2020
Stroll through the Arboretum to enjoy each of the 25-foot gazebos decorated to reflect the 12 days of Christmas. At night, the gardens get a glow-up with over one million lights. You can also visit the Christmas Village, see Santa Claus, shop, eat and more!
Reliant Lights Your Holidays
Where: AT&T Performing Arts Center, Dallas
When: December 4-December 20, 2020
Usually a one-night event, this year Reliant has made their holiday tradition a 16-night event at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas so visitors can safely visit at their own pace. Guests can enjoy 550,000 lights illuminating the Winspear Opera House, Wyly Theatre, and the many trees in Sammons Park. This year they've also added projections, photo ops, and pop-up performances on Fridays and Saturdays.
Holiday Lights Spectacular
Where: Vitruvian Park, 3966 Vitruvian Way, Addison TX
When: Through January 3, 2021
This time of year, Vitruvian Park transforms into a magical holiday wonderland! To encourage social distancing this year, they are not hosting any special events in conjunction with the lights, but they'd love for you to come walk through the park!
