7 Reasons to List your Home During the Holidays
Did you know that the holidays are actually a great time to sell your home?
We have several clients who are gearing up to list their homes this November and December. We know that probably seems crazy to some, but the holidays are actually a great time to sell your home!
Here are 7 good reasons why we say you should list your home during the holidays.
1. People who are looking to buy during the holidays are SERIOUS.
There may be fewer buyers out there, but they are typically more serious and are ready to buy. They're not just taking advantage of the abundant inventory or the convenience of moving during the Summer. Think quality vs. quantity.
2. Less inventory = Less competition
There are fewer homes for buyers to look at during the holidays which means less competition for your home. Which often times means more money for you! We're no stranger to bidding wars around here.
3. More homes go on the market right after the holidays.
After the holidays, the supply of listings increases substantially which lowers the demand for your home. More competition usually means less money for you.
4. Your home looks so cozy during the holidays.
Don't you love coming home at the end of the day to your cozy, decorated home? Potential buyers will feel the same way! So, have the fireplace going, get that Christmas tree out and decorated, drape some chunky throws over your furniture, and fill your home with warm scents, and your buyers will be able to see themselves right at home in your home!
5. Buyers have more time to look at houses.
You know it's true. This time of year your work hours dip a little bit. Which is great for you as a seller because most buyers are in the same boat which means they have more time to look at houses!
6. It's easy to control when buyers can see your home.
One of the biggest concerns we hear when talking to people about listing over the holidays is being able to control showings around parties, family gatherings, etc. It's so easy for a Realtor to place showing restrictions so you don't have to worry about those holiday traditions being interrupted!
7. Just because you sell now doesn't mean you have to move right around Christmas.
Your Realtor can negotiate a way so you can sell your home now, but don't have to move until January or February. We currently have several buyers under contract who are allowing the sellers to lease back the home until the end of this year or beginning of next year. That way they can still enjoy the holidays in their home. But the great news is the stress of selling your home will already be over with!
